Gujarat, the land of Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Patel, has a rich spiritual heritage. From the ancient Somnath Jyotirlinga rebuilt 17 times to the Dwarkadhish temple where Lord Krishna established his kingdom, Gujarat is a pilgrimage paradise. The state is also the birthplace of Jainism's most sacred sites and the Swaminarayan sampradaya.
Gujarat's spiritual identity is shaped by multiple traditions. Dwarka is one of the Char Dhams and Krishna's capital. Somnath, first among the 12 Jyotirlingas, symbolizes India's resilience. Palitana with 863 Jain temples is Jainism's holiest site. The Swaminarayan sampradaya, founded in Gujarat, has built magnificent temples worldwide including Akshardham in Delhi.
